Meet Ariana
For the last ten years of my life, I have enjoyed working in the service industry as a bartender, but I always felt there was something else in store for me career wise. I figured it out as soon as I experienced what it was like to have a birth doula. I was amazed at how many similarities there are in both fields and it only seemed natural for me to make the switch. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life, I seek being active while I work, and I welcome the challenge of adapting to new (sometimes intense) situations that are presented. Most of all, I love serving people!
Whether a person or couple is having their first baby or it’s their 5th, welcoming a new life into the world is a major transition for everyone. I strive to do what I can for each family and I am willing to be open to whatever that might entail. Some of the unique families I have had the honor of serving include single mothers, parents welcoming their baby via cesarean and clients who have previously experienced trauma to name a few.
My mind races with the possibilities of what this career will offer throughout my lifetime!
I hope to travel in order to share what I know, but more importantly learn from other cultures about what they know of birth and child rearing. I also volunteer at Providence Portland with The Gateway Doula Project and am creating a non-profit lending library for baby care items. Aside from growing as a doula, I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter at our home in NE Portland. We love to cook, garden, watch episodes of Bob’s Burgers and have living room dance parties before bedtime!
